Aims of MNDA

Based on the focus group on 6 Aug 2021, MNDA would like to do the following as an organisation:

• Be an advocacy for MND in Singapore
• Find ways to share information and devices such as Tobii (eye tracking)
• Set up infrastructure:
  • to collect funds
  • to coordinate between the different steps, from information sharing, device sharing, calls for help, etc.

Suggestions for Potential solutions:

Low-hanging solutions (easily built in the short term)

[Communication/Community Building] Discord as a platform for communication between members.

• Discord is a platform previously seen as the go for for gaming communities, but as the pandemic evolves, it has slowly also become used more by other types of users, such as influencers and celebrities looking to build a fanbase, communities focused on topics ranging from hobbies to profession such as Design Buddies.

• Discord can support up to 500 voice chatting participants in a voice channel, or up to 25 viewers of a live steam. It also has capabilities to run fireside chat style channels (called stages), where people can go up a "stage" to talk while audiences can listen in (or raise hand to get on stage to ask a question vocally).

  • potentially, you can have channels that act like radio stations, or have a channel that streams shows daily

• Automation wise, there are a lot of bots (both custom and mass produced) that can serve varied purposes, ranging from verification, moderation, utility (such as reminder bots), fun (game bots, music bots), to name a few.

• it is possible also to segregate channels for specific needs - for example, channels where only specific roles can see, or channels which serve only for informational purposes (ie, only an admin can post information as announcement), or newsfeed type channels (for example, using #s specific to MNDA or MND/ALS on reddit,twitter, instagram, etc to be fed into a channel through a bot)

• However, it is predominantly text based.

• it is possible for integrations as welll to other platforms - Youtube, Donation platforms like Kofi.

Alternatives
